About the Game

The Manhattan Affair The Manhattan Affair is an independent, story-driven module designed to complement classic real estate board games set in urban environments. Set in the glamorous and cutthroat world of 1920s New York, this narrative experience introduces secret agendas, influence mechanics, and high-stakes decision-making where charm and cunning matter just as much as cash.

Key Features: Unique Characters & Secret Agendas Each player receives a character card representing a figure from elite New York society—each with a hidden personal goal. Some seek real estate empires, others control over nightlife, or a chain of hostile takeovers.

Public Fund Mechanic A shared fund grows from rent, taxes, and trades. Players may draw from it for subsidies or special bonuses—if the dice and city hall allow.

Subsidy System Urban development becomes more dynamic: players can apply for funding to build, with dice rolls determining permit approvals or rejections. Strategy and risk replace the old buy-and-build routine.

Nightclubs Go beyond hotels. Nightclubs are elite venues that trap visitors for multiple turns—unless they charm or pay their way out. Think velvet ropes, not just rent.

Hostile Takeovers Forget friendly trades. Land on an opponent’s property, roll higher, and seize it at a premium. Fail, and the public fund cashes in on your ambition.

Flexible Building Rules You no longer need full color sets to build. Development is faster, more tactical, and shaped by opportunity.

The Manhattan Affair adds bluffing, negotiation, and narrative depth to the familiar city-building formula—perfect for players who want social drama and strategic surprises on top of their game nights.

This module is not affiliated with, authorized, sponsored, or endorsed by the publishers or trademark holders of Monopoly™. A compatible real estate board game is required to play.
