About the Game

In 機械獣 (Mechanical Beast), you want to capture the most valuable beasts, but without getting into too much danger as you risk elimination.

The deck consists of cards numbered 1-7, with 1s and 2s having safety marks and 4-7 having danger marks. More 3s are present than the other numbers.

Each of the three players has a hand of four cards, and they take turns placing cards to form a 3x3 grid. The starting player then declares "vertical" or "horizontal", with the player to their left taking their choice of column or row (depending on the declaration) and the starting player getting whatever is left behind after two players choose.

Rotate the starting player position, deal each player three cards, then play another round. Do this a third time.

Add up each player's danger marks, with each safety mark eliminating a danger and a set of three 3s being worth three safety marks. Whoever has the most danger is eliminated, then the player with the highest sum wins.

In a two-player game, the grid is filled and cards taken based on an algorithm for the third player.
