About the Game

Mondrian: Color in Motion is a game where players take turns placing cards, overlapping other cards either partially or completely, based on colors. As cards are placed, tokens are added where they overlap. Later, players may jump tokens to claim them and earn points.

Players can play solo, attempting to top their own high score, or they can play with up to 4 other people. When playing with others, players may play through the entire deck, or to a set number of points if a shorter game is desired.

Each turn consists of three phases: Card Placement: Each card has three squares. When placing the card, at least one square must overlap an already placed card. All overlaps must be of the same color. Additionally, will filling an empty area, colors must match adjacent colors. Next, each square that is overlapped has a token placed on it. These represent points, but they don't belong to anyone yet. After tokens have been placed, players jump tokens to capture them for themself. Jumps can be in any direction, including diagonals. Finally, a player ends their turn by drawing a card.

The game ends either when a predetermined score has been reached, or the draw pile is empty.
