About the Game

Embark on a dragon-training adventure in Monopoly: DreamWorks How to Train Your Dragon Edition, a thematic spin on the classic Monopoly game inspired by DreamWorks Animation’s beloved franchise.

Set in the vibrant Viking village of Berk, players take on the roles of iconic characters—Hiccup, Astrid, Tuffnut, or Ruffnut—each with a unique ability that adds depth to the gameplay. Your goal is to become the greatest dragon rider by training every class of dragon and collecting their shields!

Instead of buying properties, players travel the board to learn how to train iconic dragons, paying in fish (the game’s currency) to take lessons. Dragons replace traditional Monopoly properties, with each space representing a different species from the How to Train Your Dragon setting. Land on a dragon, pay for lessons, and gain expertise to claim their loyalty. The game introduces a training die, which players roll for a chance to train a dragon and earn one of eight dragon shields. If you collect all eight, you win! Along the way, the players face Viking challenges that test your skills and offer rewards or setbacks.

The board is adorned with artwork, characters, and locations from the franchise, immersing players in the world of Berk. Custom-sculpted tokens and matching character mats enhance the thematic experience, while familiar Monopoly mechanics—trading, auctions, and rent collection—are reimagined with a dragon-training twist. Strategic decisions, like leveraging character abilities or timing training rolls, add light tactical layers to the roll-and-move framework.
