About the Game

Morbid Fortress is a dark necromantic stronghold crafting and defense roll-and-write game for one player. This challenging print-and-play focused 18 card game revolves around rolling dice and using a dry erase marker to write on sleeved cards as its central fortress crafting mechanic.

Gather and craft macabre resources, build grim structures, and defend your unholy fortress from crusader onslaughts. To win, you must build and maintain a strong enough fortress to withstand the final assault. Each round spans multiple phases.

In the roll phase, you’ll roll your three dice and evaluate their impact on the strength of the encroaching crusaders. As you progress down the crusader round track, you’ll also eventually trigger crusader rally points that queue up future attacks based on your roll numbers. You’ll then use your roll results to harvest resources by marking them down on your resource tracker — with the ability to modify results by spending available “eyes of influence.”

During the production phase, you can spend basic resources to craft advanced resources, buy construction cards, work towards building structures, and repairing damaged structures. Marking off all of the building requirement icons on the structure face flips the card to its built side and makes its abilities and defense capabilities available to you.

When the crusaders attack on certain rounds, you’ll defend, use abilities, and absorb damage across your finished buildings in a bid to prevent the crusaders from breaking through and increasing their strength for the final assault. You win by surviving long enough to reach the end of the round tracker, then scoring high enough to beat the crusaders’ power gauge.
