About the Game
I will not lay down my arms. I will not take off my uniform. So help me God. —Major Henryk Dobrzański, upon hearing the news of the Fall of Warsaw, September 28, 1939
Hubal - The First Partisan is a campaign book for the NUTS WW2 skirmish tabletop wargame system, and is intended for squad to platoon level games that put you in command of a unit of Polish partisans in 1939. The campaign book focuses on the heroism of Polish Major Henryk Dobrzański, also known by his nom-de-guerre "Hubal", and his unit of Partisan fighters, The Detached Unit of the Polish Army (Polish: Oddział Wydzielony Wojska Polskiego). Refusing to surrender after the Fall of Warsaw, Major Dobrzański led his unit in a guerrilla campaign of hit-and-run raids that ultimately compelled the Germans to allocate a full division to stop him. This marked the formation of the first organized Polish partisan unit in World War II—and the first partisan unit of the entire war.
