About the Game

Not So Fast is a lighthearted race game where hares and tortoises dash toward an open vegetable patch, but speed alone won’t secure victory. Each player secretly supports one team color, aiming to guide both its hare and tortoise to arrive at just the right moments. With limited scoring spaces and different rewards for fast and slow animals, patience and timing are just as important as forward motion.

On a turn, a player reveals a movement card that determines which pawn can be moved—by animal type or by color—and advances it one space along the track. Pawns can stack, and when a pawn moves from the bottom of a stack, every pawn above it is carried forward and then spreads out, sometimes helping rivals as much as yourself. As pawns pass through the gate into the vegetable patch, they fill scoring spaces in order, with each space awarding different point values depending on whether a hare or a tortoise occupies it. Only the first seven pawns to arrive will score, increasing the tension as the finish line approaches.

The game ends once all seven scoring spaces in the vegetable patch are filled. Players reveal their hidden team cards and total the points earned by their matching hare and tortoise. The highest total wins, with ties broken by which player’s pawn entered the vegetable patch first. Not So Fast blends bluffing, shared movement, and tactical restraint into a compact race where moving at the wrong time can be just as risky as not moving at all.
