About the Game

Octa – The Game of 8 is a tactical card game for two players, played with 2 standard decks of cards.

Players build runs of ascending cards in the same suit, aiming to create an “Octa” — a run of eight or more cards — while also reaching a total of at least 28 cards in runs on the table. Focusing on a single long run is not enough; players must balance expansion and timing to win.

The game features a shared pool of cards and a set of action cards (Jacks, Queens, and Kings) that introduce interaction and disruption. These action cards are not always available: they only trigger when the two visible action cards match in suit. This creates moments of tension, as players anticipate whether an action will occur or not.

Octa combines planning and uncertainty. Players can influence the game state, but never fully control it. The result is a dynamic back-and-forth, where early advantages do not guarantee victory and comeback opportunities remain throughout the game.

Because Octa uses a standard deck, it is easy to set up and play anywhere, while still offering a surprising level of depth.
