Operation “Case Blue” was intended to lead Axis troops to conquer the oil fields of the Caucasus, but it ended in the Stalingrad Pocket. Considered the decisive battle of World War II, Stalingrad was the culmination of the German operation to complete the invasion of Ukraine.
