About the Game

It is the year 2358, and a massive spaceship is locked into orbit around the newly discovered world Darwin IV. With the help of the Yma, our alien patrons, humanity has finally achieved one of its cherished goals – to reach a distant exoplanet. Descending to the surface in sealed hovercones, a multitude of scientists and researchers, both human and otherworldly, will spread across this virginal world to study the diverse and often bizarre fauna found in all of its varied biomes. From vast savannahs and scattered pocket forests to the frozen tundra and the mystifying Amoebic Sea, explorers will rise to the challenges of a world teeming with biological wonders. It is here on Darwin IV that the human race will begin to fulfill its age-old yearning to explore the universe and understand the intricacies of an alien planet.

Based on Wayne Barlowe's beautifully illustrated book "Expedition", in Orbitstar: Expedition To Darwin IV players take on the role of human scientists in the year 2358 AD, exploring the alien world Darwin IV in search of new life. Piloting their hovercones across different biomes, scientists will locate and study the unique indigenous species of Darwin IV in an effort to learn more about the planet's strange and wondrous inhabitants. With the data they've collected, each scientist will share their work with their benign custodians, the Yma, earning them reputation.

But Darwin IV isn't without its dangers as scientists must also be cautious with the planet's more aggressive predators, navigate its unpredictable weather patterns, and avoid other deadly off-world threats...
