About the Game

Osteria is a quick and simple card game that lets you relive the intoxicating experience of a classic Emilian tavern, with all its warmth and generosity. Perfect for an evening with nostalgic friends or children who love good food, Osteria allows you to savor your fondest memories.

Get creative combining wholesome, authentic Emilian ingredients to recreate traditional dishes and beat the competition!

Players compete to collect the ingredients needed to cook up Emilia's classic recipes, represented by 23 double-sided Typical Dish cards laid out on the table, each showing the ingredients required, an optional wine or liqueur pairing, and the points it's worth.

On each turn a player either takes one of five face-up Ingredient cards from the table (refilling the row from the deck if it empties) or draws two cards blind from the deck, trying to build toward a dish they can complete. If their hand contains all the ingredients for one of the available recipes, they may claim that Typical Dish card, optionally pairing it with a matching Beverage card from their hand for bonus points. Players may complete more than one dish per turn, then discard down to a hand limit of six cards.

Two special cards spice things up: the Ladle, which can be played to shuffle around the ingredients laid out on the table before drawing, opening up cards that were previously buried; and the Knife, which lets its holder skim a card from the hand of anyone who completes a dish — but comes with a steep penalty if you're still holding it when the game ends.

The game ends the moment the draw deck runs out. Final scores are tallied from completed dishes plus any beverages paired with them, minus points for any beverage or Knife cards still left in hand. Highest score wins, with ties broken by whoever paired the most beverages.
