About the Game

Cambodia has several games played on the chessboard of which this is the one most similar to international Chess and most clearly derived from the Indian game of Chaturanga. As in Thai chess (Makruk), the pawns (interestingly called Fish) are set up on the third row. They are promoted to queens on reaching the sixth rank. The bishop and queen have limited movement, as in most non-European forms of Chess.
