About the Game
Owzat is an Australian game of skill that emulates the game of Cricket. Two sides compete with a variation of bat and ball where a fielding side rolls a ball down a ramp, along a path or wicket with the aim to hit a yellow block (the stumps). Other small yellow blocks are placed around the wicket as fielders to indicate runs scored or batting players out.
The batting team has a batter that uses a small wooden cue to strike the oncoming ball back out into the field to where runs can be scored and totaled before all 11 batsmen are out.
Sides swap roles and the side with the most runs wins the game.
Advertisements of Owzat during 1944 and 1945 show that purchasing the game cost quite a sum of money during those war years.
