About the Game

PAWND is a 2 player abstract strategy game, and the third in a series of "map reduction" games after VLKNO and ICBRG.

You play as a team of 5 frogs attempting to cross a pond by moving along lily pads and stones. You move your frogs either one space at a time, or by jumping over an adjacent frog belonging to either player.

When you jump over an opponent's frog, it is sent back to their starting row of stones. If the frog occupied a lily pad when jumped, you remove the lily pad and keep it.

Each time you begin a frog's movement from a lily pad, after moving you take the lily pad and place it on a new space on the board. As a result, the pond is constantly being rearranged.

You can win the game in one of three ways:

Move all 5 of your frogs across the pond to your opponent's row of starting stones Capture 5 of your opponent's lily pads Prevent your opponent from having any available moves

This game was originally created for the 2025 BGG 2 Player PnP Game Design Contest.
