About the Game
PLACES-Bid is a bidding game where you compete to collect the most points from purchasing building cards, collecting tokens, and assembling a portfolio of building cards from the PLACES categories. PLACES is an acronym that represents the ideal mix of activities in our neighborhoods: Play, Live, Academic, Community, Employ, Shop.
Players have a chance to "win" each round, whether it is to (1) win the highest bid and the right to choose from one of the available building cards, (2) attempt to be the second highest bidder and sacrifice getting first choice of building cards for a lower cost, (3) work to purchase building cards that match the same letter/color as their project card, (4) collect cards from each PLACES category, or (5) build their token bank.
The game ends when either someone(s) has purchased a building from each PLACES category or all building cards have been purchased or discarded. The player with the most points through a combination of cards, collections, and tokens wins.
