Making friends is hard. It’s especially hard when you’re the new kid in town and you’re not sure how to fit in. Can you navigate the politics of the playground while staying true to yourself?
Pax Playground recontextualizes some of the common mechanisms and player dynamics from Pax-style games in a non-historical and non-violent setting.
On your turn you must choose one of three possible options:
Play a card from your hand and perform its action
Love a card from your hand and grow your affinity for a specific toy type
Throw a tantrum and choose a card from the display to perform its action
The game ends once one player has used all their Imagination cards. Your goals are to make new friends and be true to yourself. If your favorite toy matches the favorite toy of the playground, you made new friends. If the statement on your Identity card is true at the end of the game, you were true to yourself.
