About the Game
The rooms are ready, the guests are arriving, and it’s time to get to work! In Pet Hotel, all kinds of guests are checking in with their pets. As a hotel manager, you are responsible for several floors of the hotel. It’s up to you to organise all the pets as cleverly as possible. Because while they are all welcome, some pets don’t get along very well when they are placed too close to each other. Can you create the perfect layout and become the best hotel manager?
In Pet Hotel, you try to fill your hotel floors as effectively as possible. The longer a floor is, the more points it earns. Placing multiple pets of the same species on one floor earns you additional points. On top of that, each hotel manager has two secret objectives that can earn extra points during the game. The player who combines their floors and objectives most cleverly will score the most points and win the game!
How to play Pet Hotel The game is played over several rounds. At the start of each round, four pets are visible in the lobby. Each player then chooses one card from their hand to bid with. The highest bid determines who gets to choose a pet from the lobby first. The other players then choose in order of their bids. If multiple players make the same bid, the ranking of the pets determines who gets to choose first.
When you choose a pet, you immediately place it on one of your hotel floors. Each floor is built from left to right, and the pets must always be placed in either ascending or descending order. Duplicate numbers are not allowed. You may start a new floor at any time, but once a pet has been placed, it cannot be moved or changed.
Once all players have chosen a pet from the lobby, the lobby is replenished with the cards used for bidding and, depending on the number of players, cards from the guest stacks. Each player then draws a new card, and the next round begins. Throughout the game, you are not only trying to make your floors as full as possible, but also looking for clever combinations. The length of your floors earns points, while having multiple pets of the same species on a floor earns additional points. You can also complete your secret objectives to score even more points. Some objectives can be completed multiple times, while others can only be completed once.
The game ends when there are no more cards available to bid with. It is then time to calculate your hotel’s final score. Floors containing only a single pet do not score any points. For the remaining floors, add the points for their length and the most frequently occurring pet species. Finally, add the points from your completed objectives.
The hotel manager with the highest total score wins Pet Hotel!
