About the Game

Red Hot Special is a fast, fiery card game where players compete to eat the most chili without taking too many spicy surprises. Each turn, the active player chooses who must draw from the Chili Line, but anyone can play cards to peek, bluff, rearrange the line, or sabotage their rivals. Draw too many Red Hot Specials and you Burn Out, but you’re not out of the game. Read the table, pass the heat, and collect the most chili to win.

Build the Chili Line Mix Basic Chili cards with Red Hot Specials and lay them face down in a line. Before the round begins, players get a Taste Test peek.

Choose who draws The active player picks anyone, including themself, to take the front card. Basic Chili goes into that player’s hand; a Red Hot Special stays face up in front of them.

Change the odds Before the draw, anyone may play a Chili card to peek, move cards, or interfere with rivals. Played cards remain yours for scoring.

Burn Out Your third Red Hot Special stops you from drawing, but you still take turns and play cards. On your turn, you may also peek at one card in the line.

Score the chili When only one player has not burned out, score 1 point per collected card and 1 point for each matching-suit pair. Red Hot Specials are wild for pairs unless you burned out; if you did, they score nothing. Highest score wins.
