About the Game

Highly complex early European mathematical abstract game which illustrates the number theory of Boëthius. Played by intellectuals and mathematicians between the 10th and 16th centuries and used as a mathematical teaching method. Rules varied considerably. Rivaled Chess as the premier intellectual game during its heyday.

In 1985, a "modern" game variant basing on the base elements, called Rythmo, was published.
