Ruthless Returns is a satirical business strategy game where all players act simultaneously, every single round. No downtime, no mercy.
Each fiscal year you get a hand of cards, pick one and pass the rest, 7 Wonders-style. Hire lawyers, launch shitstorms, plant shady evidence, poach your neighbour's star employee, or quietly build the best product on the market. Every path can win, if you execute it well: the pass-and-pick draft means a bad hand is a round, never a fate.
Lawsuits resolve at year-end in a courtroom ceremony: nine out of ten bankruptcies follow a lost case. Offshore accounts, greenwashing, spin doctors, lobbyists and a demanding board of directors round out the satire. It is the Panama Papers universe, except this time the schemers are sitting at your table.
The richest CEO after three fiscal years wins. Success is measured not in morals but in liquidity.
3-6 players. Includes a team mode (2v2, 2v2v2 and 3v3) and three expansion modules: The Board, The Headhunters and The Lobbyists. The Lobbyists add public tenders: sealed bids where players split their money and political influence across two contracts each year.
The digital edition was released on 14 August 2026 and is free to play in the browser at ruthlessreturns.com and on Steam, with cross-play between the two, online multiplayer, shared-screen play and solo against AI opponents, in nine languages. A physical edition is headed to Kickstarter.
