About the Game

In Salmon, your fish swim upstream to lay their eggs. The farther they go, the more points they can earn. There’s just one hungry problem: a bear is waiting for lunch.

On your turn, choose a salmon and roll the dice one after another, starting with a four-sided die and working up to a twenty-sided die. Each result must match or beat the previous roll. You can stop and claim a free space, or keep swimming for a better spot. Roll too low, and the current washes your salmon three rows downstream. Fish sent back to the sea help you reroll or adjust future rolls. Even soggy failures have their uses.

Roll the same number twice in a row, and you can move the bear—preferably toward someone else’s fish. Salmon that survive until your next turn lay their eggs and are safe from becoming lunch. Reach the river’s source to earn extra points for the places where your other salmon have settled. Once all salmon have been played, the player with the most points wins.
