About the Game

Something Else Entirely is a trick taking game for 2-4 players played using Japanese Hanafuda cards. Players are dealt a hand of 8 cards, and will play these cards to tricks. Tricks are won by playing the same suit (month) as the lead card, or a Pauwlonia.

Once all tricks have been played, each player (or team, if playing 2v2), scores the cards they collected according to a scoring system used by many traditional Hanafuda fishing games.

Something Else Entirely originally appeared as the final game in the You Can Play These Games With Cards booklet of card game rules, along with a standard deck variant.
