About the Game

Worker bees are busy collecting nectar from flowers, unaware that a cunning parasitic cuckoo bee lurks nearby. This deceptive insect seeks the perfect moment to sneak its eggs into the hive, hiding them among the honey and the bees’ own brood. It’s a battle of wit and timing between diligent workers and a stealthy intruder in the world of buzzing hives.

Southern Cuckoo is a short trick-taking game for 2–4 players that uses 16 cards and two types of tokens. Players compete by following suit and playing cards numbered 1–8, where higher numbers win the trick. Each round, players must also manage “species” and “nectar” tokens representing even/odd values and colors—matching these can earn or cost points. After two rounds, the player with the fewest minus points wins.
