About the Game

It’s double-overtime in the most important game of the season. You’re trailing the opposing team by 3 points. Every single man on your squad is exhausted, frustrated, and nursing some kind of injury. Now you’ve received the ball at your 20 and the last series has begun. Whether by ground or air, you need to move your squad 80 yards downfield and infiltrate the opponents’ end zone. You have 2 minutes left, and nothing short of a touchdown will do. Even a single mistake could mean sudden death.

Sudden Death is a solitaire game based on American gridiron football. Acting simultaneously as "coach," "quarterback," and "ball carrier," you execute a series of offensive plays against a system-controlled defensive team. The object of the game is to move the ball down the field and into the opponent’s end zone, scoring a touchdown, before the game clock runs out. If you do this, you win. If the game time runs out first, or if you lose possession of the ball due to an interception, a safety, a turnover on downs, or a fumble recovered by the opposing team, you lose.
