About the Game
Syndicate: Empire of Vice is a negotiation-driven board game set in Prohibition-era Manhattan, where rival mob bosses compete to build the city's most profitable criminal empire. Players take control of competing criminal syndicates, acquiring territories, establishing businesses, and expanding their influence across New York City. In a world of shifting alliances and competing interests, negotiation, favors, bribes, and betrayal are essential to getting ahead.
Over four rounds, each representing a year during the Prohibition era, players will acquire territories, business opportunities, development contracts and political favors, before entering an open negotiation phase where anything can be traded. Players must strike deals, exchange properties, and secure the resources needed to develop their criminal enterprises. Businesses range from legitimate fronts to illegal rackets, each providing distinct bonuses to the owner.
Beyond negotiation and construction, players can deploy their mobsters to claim contested territories or extort rival businesses. Meanwhile, police enforcement threatens operations across Manhattan, forcing players to navigate raids, bribes, and the ever-present risk of losing valuable income. Each round concludes with players collecting profits from their businesses and criminal activities.
At the end of the fourth round, the player who has accumulated the most money wins, establishing themselves as the dominant criminal force in Manhattan. Victory depends not only on strategic investments and territorial control, but on the ability to negotiate, manipulate, and outwit rival syndicates.
