About the Game

Tails of Mischief 2 is a deck of custom hand-drawn art poker playing cards that puzzle together in a tapestry to create the board for a tabletop game. Inspired by Japanese sugoroku there are initially three versions of play: The Journey, the Adventure and The Hidden Garden.

The aim is to be the first player that reaches the end of the board. Place your pieces on the start cards (choose from two start locations), roll a die and move one card for each number.

The rules for the Journey are simple. Land on forks in the road to take the shortcuts, miss them and you're taking the longer path. The rules to the Adventure add choice and consequence. All players stop at each fork and in their next turn choose to try the shortcut or take the longer route. If they go for a shortcut, call odd or even for that path before rolling. For each roll landing on the correct call, the player can move as usual. For each roll on the opposing call, the player does not move.

The rules for The Hidden Garden bring the board and artwork to life. The players together establish rules before the game begins. Example rule: every ladybird lets you move one more space forward, every woodlouse sends you one space backwards. Then when landing on a card after a roll, count the ladybirds and woodlice on that card to see what bonuses or hindrances you incur!
