About the Game

The wind sweeps across the Great Plains. The buffalo are still far away. Winter is coming.

In Tatanka, you lead one of the great peoples of the Plains through the cycle of two years of thirteen moons. Your decisions are guided not only by strategy, but by tradition, ceremony, and the rhythm of the land itself.

Gather resources before the cold comes. Strengthen the spiritual life of your tribe. Honor your dead. Use the CHEKUTNAK - ritual dice that decide not only what you do, but what you prevent others from doing. Every moon brings new demands. Every choice shapes the legacy your tribe leaves on the Plains.

Tatanka is the result of over a decade of historical and ethnographic research — developed alongside anthropologist Alessio Martella, adopted member of the Lakota community, and photographer and journalist Alessio Vissani, author of "Unbreakable. A Lakota Story".
