The Magician 2023

The Magician is a solitaire game played with a 78-card Tarot deck. You play as the Magician, attempting to subjugate the remaining 21 Major Arcana and gain absolute power. Your tools are wands, pentacles, swords, and cups: the cards of the Minor Arcana, which allow you to control the four elements of nature. Four Major Arcana cards are dealt in a diamond pattern so that the Minor Arcana cards can be placed adjacent to them on each side. The player tries to subjugate one or more of these cards by surrounding them with a Minor Arcana card of each suit, the sum of which also exceeds the value of the Major Arcana card. The player can use the Magician card to activate special powers, including the power to change the suit of a card to a wild suit. When cards are subjugated, both the Major Arcana and the surrounding Minor Arcana cards are discarded. Some Major Arcana cards have addition requirements for subjugating them, and others offer rewards after being subjugated. There are also expansion cards which include even more requirements and rewards for greater variability. If the player can subjugate all 21 Major Arcana before the Minor Arcana deck runs out, they win.
