In Tiere Toppen, players compare 180 animals from around the world in a clever trick-taking game about size, weight, lifespan, and speed.

At the beginning of each round, every player receives eight animal cards and secretly assigns one card to each space of their personal category strip. Each of the four categories appears twice: once for the highest value and once for the lowest value. All players then reveal the corresponding cards simultaneously, and whoever has played the highest or lowest value wins the trick.

Winning tricks is only part of the challenge. The collected cards must be divided between a face-down scoring pile and face-up piles for the different animal groups. At the end of the game, players score their face-down cards as well as majorities in the individual animal groups.
