About the Game

UNMERGO is a two-player abstract strategy game played on a hexagonal board. Players place discs of their own colour, and the goal is to end the game with more separate groups of your own colour than your opponent has of theirs.

On a turn, a player places one disc on an empty point. This placement must not merge two or more of the player's own existing groups into a single group; adding to a single group, or starting a new, isolated group, is legal. After placing, the player may optionally move one of the opponent's discs one step to an adjacent empty point — this move is unrestricted, and can be used to bridge two of the opponent's groups together. If a player has no legal placement, their entire turn is skipped.

The game ends the moment neither player has a legal placement anywhere on the board. Whoever has more groups of their own colour wins; if the group counts are tied, the players' groups are compared from largest to smallest, and whoever's largest group is smaller wins the tie.
