Victory or Martyrdom 2025

Victory or Martyrdom is a solitaire action roleplaying game set in the time of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, in which players take on the role of a mujahid, or Islamic warrior, and attempt to improve his attributes, skills, defeat enemies, acquire better gear, and defend his faith, with the goal of surviving into old age and retiring after a lifetime of adventure. Player warriors can join the Prophet in defense against those men who wish to destroy the burgeoning revival of monotheism, march in the ranks of the Rashidun armies and drive back Persian and Roman invaders, choose various political allegiances in civil war, and more.

The player begins between the years 624 and 670 CE as an Islamic warrior of an age of the player's choosing. The player fills out his warrior's attributes and skills then begin their adventure, resolving a sequence of events, including random events, between periods of encampment and battle, until retirement (voluntary or involuntary), or the warrior's death, either in battle, grevious wounds, or by old age.

Dice and cards are used to resolve combat, with morale, battlefield perception, and battlefield conditions (representative of terrain, weather, and so on) all affecting the course and ultimate resolution of the battle phase. Outside of battle, the player may undertake pilgrimages, train his physical and mental attributes, practice with various weapons, horses, accumulate abstracted gold pieces, and purchase lands, among other things.

The game officially ends if the player voluntarily (or involuntarily) retires, is killed, dies of old age, or reaches the end of the game in the year 732 CE.
