About the Game

In the '80s, revenge movies continued to proliferate—those films about an ordinary guy bent on delivering justice, further motivated by the alarming threat of delinquents and junkies from that era. Nothing like the gangsters of the '20s, but cinema continued to use them, along with the noir films featuring a detective in a fedora hat. Of course, where there’s a detective, there’s a mystery to solve, and the suspense genre has always captivated the public, especially in Italy, where they gave it a unique personality and style, calling it Giallo. All these genres could easily fall under that catch-all genre known as Thriller, which no one really understands what it entails. To round it all out, let’s add a few films about “perfect” heists and robberies to the video store.

Genres included: Gangsters and Detectives ("I'll make him an offer he can't refuse...") Giallo ("Beast!") Heists and Robberies ("If only everything were as long as that...") Suspense ("I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.") Thriller ("What's in the box?") Revenge ("Bet your mom wasn't as bad as mine.")
