About the Game
Wandering: Frontier is a modular, solo narrative card game set in a harsh, ambiguous Western world. You take on the role of a Protagonist—defined by their Origin, Competence, and Mark—who is embarking on a physical and spiritual journey to find Resolution. This might be vengeance against your Arch-enemy, or perhaps the hard-won redemption you seek.
Gameplay Overview The game is played over a series of Journeys, where the Scenario Deck (100 cards) acts as your timer and the engine for all events. Each card offers two distinct paths: the Trail, representing wilderness encounters, and the Settlement, for interactions within towns.
Key Mechanics:
Resource Management: Survival hinges on managing six key resources, tracked by counters: Voluntad (Will/Energy), Moralidad (Morality/Ethics), Influencia (Influence/Standing), Suministros (Supplies/Provisions), Trauma (Psychological Scars), and Defensa (Defense/Protection). Narrative Trials: All challenges, from facing a dangerous beast to navigating a moral dilemma, are resolved by drawing cards from the Scenario Deck and testing your Protagonist's resources against the card's value. Success allows you to gain resources, recruit Allies, or advance your personal plot. The Arch-enemy: Your ultimate goal is to survive long enough and become strong enough to confront your personal Arch-enemy, a nemesis who defines your specific victory condition and narrative finale. Modular Design: The game is designed to be highly modular. Protagonists, Allies, and Villains from different expansions or settings can be mixed and matched, allowing for vast replayability and unpredictable, unique stories every time you play.
Goal: Survive the harsh Frontier, gather the strength and Allies needed, and achieve your Resolution by defeating your Arch-enemy before the Scenario Deck runs out.
