About the Game

Word Buzz! is a word game similar in style to Password: A player draws a topic card, keeping it hidden from their teammates, then must describe the topic for their teammates to guess within a set period of time. However, before beginning their description, the player must also roll a 1d6 "forfeit die", the result of which affects what they may say to their teammates. For example: a '1' means the player may only speak in the past tense; a '2' means the player may only use words of six or fewer letters; a '6' means the player may only speak in rhyme; and so forth.

Teams score a point if their player can adhere to the forfeit conditions and the teammates guess the topic. If the player does not adhere to their forfeit, the opposing team may hit the buzzer and score a point, and also end that player's turn. If the player's teammates are unable to guess the topic, the opposing team has one guess. If correct, they win a point, if not, no points are scored.

A bonus point may be scored if the player adheres to their forfeit and manages to avoid saying "um" or "er", even if their team does not correctly guess the topic.

Play then passes to the opposing team. The first team to reach ten points is the winner.
