Word for Word

Word for Word has 99 letter tiles, a bag to hold them, and a timer. Players start by drawing 9 letters. The first player forms a word from their tiles and places in the middle of the table.

In each turn thereafter, a player does one of the following to make a new word:

Rearrange the letters of the word. Swap a letter from their tiles with a letter in the word, possibly rearranging the letters. Add one letter from the hand to the word, possibly rearranging the letters. Add one letter and swap one letter, possibly rearranging the letters.

Then they draw a tile from the bag to go back to 9 tiles, if necessary.

If a player cannot do anything to make a new word, they pass and are out for the rest of the round. Once everyone passes, the last player who modified the word gets 10 points for each letter in the final word. The first player to reach a total score of 500 points (or another chosen goal) wins the game.
