About the Game

Yari Shogi is a re-imagining of Shogi that is played on a 7x9 board using pieces that combine the basic movement of Chess pieces with that of the Shogi Lance, hence the game's name (Spear Chess). As in Shogi, captured pieces can be dropped back into the game and each player's pieces can promote once they reach the adversary's first three ranks.
