This is an insert for The Lord of the Rings: Fate of the Fellowship

There are a few versions of this insert. What is always important to me is functionality, and I don't see that in other versions the way I would like it to be. The other versions usually leave the original insert and add to it. That's perfectly fine, but it takes up space that could be used to add components for functionality. But the disadvantage, of course, is that it uses more material. So you have to make a compromise. I have tried to save material through a few design decisions (notches in the large boxes, etc.). For me, the additional cost of the material for this version makes sense, as I can also use parts of the insert on the table during the game.

All cards can be sleeved. All cards were sleeved with Gamegenic Matte Premium Sleeves, and that is how it was designed and tested.

However, especially with the large cards, it is just the right fit for the card trays. During the game, when the cards are spread out, this is perfectly fine.

The insert is designed so that the trays can be taken out of the box and placed on the table for playing. This optimizes setup and teardown.

Special features:

The dice tower is bulky and unfortunately cannot be stored completely assembled, so it must be divided into 4 parts. The long part holds the tower and the eye tokens. The bottom of the dice tower fits into the large tray on the lower left. There is also space for some Nazgul miniatures, for which there is an additional box. You will also find a box here for all the tokens and meeples needed for game setup. You can simply take these out, pour them out, and set up the game.

The hero meeples are stored in a separate box with beautiful Lord of the Rings lettering. If you want to print this, you should use the 3mf file I provide (see Cults) and a 0.2 nozzle for this quality. A 0.4 nozzle will also work, but some of the details of the lettering will be lost. There are two versions of the lettering in the STL files (ENG - English and GER - German). Is this absolutely necessary? No - but it looks really nice :-)

The two large card boxes can be placed on the corresponding spaces on the game board and used as draw piles and discard piles. The same applies to the small card boxes.

The other trays for the meeples and tokens can then be distributed on and around the game board.

I chose the colors as follows: black/red for boxes that remain in the box, black/gold for the hero box, and dark brown/white for the boxes that stand on the game table, matching the game board.

The large card boxes are stackable and therefore need to be printed with support. This is really very minimal and can easily be printed using auto support.

All boxes feature graphics. Firstly, this makes them look nicer and you know where everything needs to be sorted.

The insert does not cause the lid to lift.

All files must be printed once, with the exception of those that are different for the two languages. Here, you must choose between English or German. The lid for the hero box is already configured in the 3mf file. The STL files are individual files that you must assemble yourself in the slicer.

The 3mf file is included and already prepared for multicolor printing.

The longest part to print measures 260 mm. This should be possible to print on standard printers if you rotate the part 45 degrees in the slicer.

The whole thing was printed on a BambuLab A1. Printing takes about 20 hours with a material consumption of about 600 grams – depending on how the infill is set, whether you print with top and bottom layers, and whether you want to print the tokens as well.

There is also a variant version of the Heroes Box (Heroes_Box_plus_Promo.stl). This is the Heroes Box were the Promo Gandalf the wise can be stored as well.
