After many, many hours of learning OpenSCAD and failing to make this bin parametric, I resorted to the help of AI. I could not have completed this code or the customizations that I wanted without the help of AI. That being said, AI (Claude Pro Sonnet 5) did not create this entirely on its own. I used AI to help me learn the advanced techniques to make the customization and optional accessories work with in this project. AI did write some code and notes in the program along side me making changes and touching up its mistakes and trying new things.
The core geometry is nearly identical to the original version of this bin. The new features include:
- Optional dividers
- Optional printed nameplate with text and font customization
- Front scoop on/off toggle
- Front cutout height adjustment
- Any size bin you can fit on your printer
Check out my post for a more in-depth breakdown of the customizer. https://makerworld.com/community/post/1851335
This is a Gridfinity-based parts bin. This model is based on the classic ULINE stackable parts bin. A super simple model that is extremely convenient to have around. These can be used to store anything. This model was originally created in SolidWorks and is my own design. Up until 8/21/26, this model page was comprised of many different sized bins that I created and uploaded individually based on user request. Now it is a customizable model that you can create based on your own needs. If you have features or ideas that you want to see in the customizer, leave a comment and I can work on implementing it.
- Gridfinty base and recessed Gridfinity-compatible top with anti-slide nubs making this a stackable bin
- Optional customized 3D printed name plate, or recessed area for a label maker
- Optional front scoop to easily sweep parts out through the front
- Optional dividers to split the bin into sections
- Customizable size based on amount of Gridfinity bases and height based on the Gridfinity standard (7mm increments)

8/7/25:
CHANGED ALL THE MODELS. Sorry, but I wanted to standardize the models with Gridifinity Units for height instead of the 50mm that the original bins had. The new ones are smaller but not by much. The new bins also have a larger label area to fit more types of labels. Added taller versions for 3x5 and 5x3 bins, both 16U.
7/29/25:
Uploaded more large bin sizes per user request. 3x4, 3x5, 4x3, 5x3, all 10U versions.
6/7/25:
Uploaded tall versions of some bins that are 10U (74.4mm) tall per user request. 10U is Gridfinity units which is why it is not exactly 75mm.
(1U=7mm, +4.4mm for top lip)
3/13/26:
Uploaded 3x3x6U version per user request.
3/30/26:
Uploaded 2x2x10U version per user request.
4/15/26:
Uploaded 2x5x10U version per user request.
4/19/26:
Uploaded 1x2x6U version per user request.
8/21/26:
Parametric customizer created. Minor updates to model geometry due to SCAD limitations, optional dividers added, optional printed nameplate and slot added. All old models removed from print profiles and 4 basic bins were added in place.
Boost Me Please consider boosting this model, as I spent $200 of my own money to make it possible.
