Quarto game with box, pocket size, customizable (FreeCAD)
Do you want to take your exiting strategic Quarto game with you to your friend - but don't want to carry the big box of the original game with you? This version solves the problem: No big box, no separate big board - All pieces fit into a small box which is also used as board during the game.
The 3 simple rules of the game are easy to understand:
1) Game for 2 people. After putting one piece on the board, the other person puts a piece.
2) Your opponent hands you the piece you have to place on the board. (You are not allowed to choose the piece yourself).
3) Just put 4 pieces of the same kind in a row to win - i.e. 4 blue pieces - or 4 red pieces - or 4 big pieces - or 4 small pieces - or 4 round pieces - or 4 square pieces - or 4 pieces with hole - or 4 pieces without hole.
Sounds too easy? Sounds like only children would like it? Just try yourself to win - and make sure not to overlook the opportunities you literally hand over to your opponent with the piece you give him...
With a diameter of 12mm for the pieces - the box is only 97x49x16mm.
I also added the FreeCAD design file which allows you to easily customize the pieces and the box. If you change the size of the pieces in the "sizes"-spreadsheet, the box adapts automatically to the new size - so you don't need to adapt it, The FreeCAD-design file is inside of the Quarto&Box-FreeCAD.3mf. You may need to rename the file extension to .zip to be able to extract it.
