Travel Yahtzee game

I wanted a travel version of Yahtzee to play on the go, with no loose dice to lose. So I designed this!

If unfamiliar, Yahtzee is normally played by rolling 5 dice. You pick which of the 5 you want to keep, then reroll the rest. You get 3 rolls per turn, you can reroll any or keep any over the three turns. The goal is to make certain ‘hands’ based on your rolls. By the end of your three rolls, you pick which category you want your results to apply to and are scored accordingly.

5x Number rings

Assembly

Using the frame, slowly slide the number rod in one end. I prefer to hold the frame vertically, rod coming from the bottom. Insert a number ring in the side with the window, sliding the rod through the center. Repeat for each number ring, keeping each ring oriented the same way. After threading through all 5, use number rod cap to lock rod in place. If the cap is too tight, you can still spin the rings from the rounded cutout side. Loosening the cap a bit, you can use the geared cap like a knob to help spin the numbered dice rings.

Follow a similar process for the switched, threading the rod through the frame and inserting the switches one by one as you go. Switches should be fine in either orientation, but I prefer to keep them all one direction. I prefer keeping the longer edge of the pointy end along the back of the frame, the side of the frame opposite the windows. The shorter side of the pointy end being closer to the windows. With this configuration, the switches keep the ring unlocked when flipped closer towards the window. Flipped to the middle position locks them. Flipping them one farther should also unlock them, but it may be harder to flip back so I suggest keeping them in the first and second positions. (I may add a stopper in the future)

The rods are slightly different sizes so keep an eye on them. The number rod being slightly thinner to allow the rings to spin more freely, and caps fit with each rod.

Future plans

-I may revise the frame or switches to better stop them from going too far

-I may adjust the switch stopping part to better grip the rings

-May find a way to make spinning the rings easier/more fun

-add keychain feature

-add scoring or category markings on frame to help remember
