Files Included

  • maestro_organizer.3mf : The four trays, ready to slice.
  • my_designs/maestro_v2.scad : The OpenSCAD source code of the insert for modifications.
  • my_designs/maestro_prototype.scad : Small fit-test trays for the custom-shaped wells (blueprint, popular gallery, event marker) at three clearances each.
  • my_designs/svg/ : Vector outlines of components with custom-shaped wells (used by the SCAD files).
  • lib/boardgame_insert_toolkit_lib.4.13.0.scad : The Boardgame Insert Toolkit library dependency.

Design Specifications

  • Sleeved Cards: Designed for mini cards ($45 \times 68\text{ mm}$) and standard cards ($57 \times 89\text{ mm}$) in $90\,\mu\text{m}$ sleeves.
  • Height: The trays are $38.5\text{ mm}$ tall, leaving room for game boards, the $4.5\text{ mm}$ spinner (sideboard, tools tile, and pin), action overlays, and the rulebook on top.

Note: If you do not store the spinner on top, set spinner_extra = 0 in the SCAD file to produce $41\text{ mm}$ tall trays.

  • Walls: $1\text{ mm}$ wall thickness. Each tray measures at most $142\text{ mm}$ per side.
  • Finger Openings: Wells for loose, small pieces include a lip to prevent components from sliding out when the game box is stored vertically.
  • Custom Fits: Precedence, event marker, publicity, blueprint, and popular gallery wells match exact piece geometry (sourced from svg/ ). Each was fit-tested using prototype prints.

Editing & Customization

  • Open my_designs/maestro_v2.scad in OpenSCAD .
  • Select the tray to render by changing build_tray at the bottom of the file (choose between "L" , "M" , "S1" , or "S2" ).

Alternatively, compile directly via the command line:
openscad -D 'build_tray="M"' -o maestro_michelangelo.stl my_designs/maestro_v2.scad

Performance Tip: Rendering individual trays can take time with the default CSG engine. Use --backend=Manifold if supported by your OpenSCAD installation. Ensure lib/ and svg/ directories remain in the same relative paths.
