Master of Orion: The Board Game Box

Designer's Description

Master of Orion is one of my favorite board games. But the original cardboard box isn't of very good quality and also it also has a little bit too much wasted space.

The box is designed to keep all the parts of the game except the rulebook. I recommend printing the rulebook as an A5 booklet without the sides with “lore” info, then it fits (the box counts with an extra 1mm of vertical space for the rulebook). The box holds on its own, but because it is really a flat box, I recommend putting magnets in the corners to fix it firmly - see print instructions below.

Also, I designed the round token and first player token replacements because these tokens are used a lot and I wanted nicer tokens to be used in game.

Print instructions

PLA, 5-10% infill, any layer height (printed with 0.2 layer height).

For the tokens, I recommend a color switch for the few top layers.

Magnet insertion

There are designed holes for round 10x5mm magnets in the corners to be fitted during the print. Plan the pause of the print on top of the holes to insert the magnets. The fit is tight (designed to be 10.1mm) to prevent the magnet from catching on the printer's head.
