Designer's Description
Western Legends + Ante Up | Complete Box Organizer (Sleeved Cards)

I designed this organizer from scratch in Tinkercad to consolidate Western Legends and the Ante Up expansion into the original base-game box , while accommodating sleeved cards and making setup and teardown as quick and straightforward as possible.

My goal was simple: get the game from the shelf to the table with as little sorting, unpacking, and unnecessary handling as possible.

Every component has a designated place, and several removable trays are designed to go directly from the box onto the table.

Features

Removable Cattle Token Holders

Three color-matched holders (red, green, and blue) store their respective cattle tokens and can be lifted directly from the organizer and placed on the game board.

Their storage base accommodates the different elevations within the box, keeping the assembled organizer at a consistent height.

Removable Gold Nugget Tray

A dedicated gold-colored tray with recessed black lettering provides storage for the gold nuggets. It lifts directly out for gameplay and eliminates the need for a separately purchased container.

This tray is included as an optional print.

Miniature Storage and Removable Base Ring Holder

The miniatures are stored in a dedicated compartment with individual dividers.

A removable holder stores the colored miniature base rings within the same compartment, keeping everything together while allowing easy access during setup.

Removable Legendary Point Token Tray

The Legendary Point tokens have their own removable tray, which fits inside its designated storage compartment and can be transferred directly to the table.

Dedicated Token Storage

Custom-sized compartments and recesses accommodate the game's various components, including:

  • Wound tokens
  • First Player marker
  • Legendary Point tokens
  • Currency and other game tokens
  • Player markers and miscellaneous components

Removable Currency Tray

The $10 and $20 currency cards are stored together in a connected tray that can be removed from the box and placed directly onto the game board.

Optional Card Tray Lids

Three labelled lids are included for:

  • Legendary Tokens
  • Player Characters
  • Poker Cards

These lids are not friction-fit . They simply rest on their respective trays and are intended for use while the organizer is packed inside the game box.

Card Sleeve Compatibility

This organizer was designed and physically tested with sleeved cards.

Small Cards — General Store / Trading Post

  • Approximately 46.5 × 70 mm measured sleeve dimensions
  • Believed to be Mayday Standard Mini Euro (45 × 68 mm nominal size)
  • Standard thickness, not premium

Larger Cards — Poker / Player Characters / Other Standard Cards

  • Mayday Standard sleeves
  • 63.5 × 88 mm nominal size
  • Standard thickness, not premium

Premium or thicker sleeves have not been tested and may affect card stack heights and tray fitment.

Please verify your sleeve dimensions before printing , as compatibility with thicker sleeves cannot be guaranteed.

Design Philosophy

I generally shy away from organizers that use excessive filament without providing a practical benefit. In my opinion, the material used should be justified by the functionality it provides.

I approached this project with that philosophy in mind.

The organizer uses a consistent support height across the main storage areas. Some sections require more material than I would ordinarily prefer, but this was intentional.

The consistent height helps support the main playing board and prevents it from resting directly on the sleeved cards stored in the General Store and Trading Post stands.

Those cards remain in their respective stands while packed away, reducing setup time and unnecessary handling.

I wanted to balance three things:

  • Efficient storage and sensible filament consumption.
  • Protection of the game components.
  • Fast, straightforward setup and teardown.

The objective wasn't simply to make everything fit. It was to make the game easier to get to the table.

Important Third-Party Model Requirement

This organizer was specifically designed to integrate with the replacement General Store and Trading Post stands created by endofturn on Printables.

These stands replace the original cardboard versions and allow the sleeved cards to remain organized both during gameplay and while stored.

Required third-party model:

Western Legends Replacement Stores – General, Trading Post, Travelling Trader

Credit to endofturn for the original stand designs.

These stands are not my creations, and their model files are not included in this upload . Please download them separately from the original designer.

The organizer's layout and fitment were designed around these specific stands. Compatibility with other versions has not been tested.

These are the settings I used for my prints:

  • Layer height: 0.24 mm
  • Wall generator: Arachne
  • Wall loops: 3
  • Top shell layers: 4
  • Bottom shell layers: 4
  • Infill: 8% Adaptive Cubic
  • Outer wall speed: 50 mm/s

The included print profile contains the individual plate layouts and colour assignments.

Estimated Material and Print Time

Based on the complete eight-plate project:

  • Total filament: Approximately 815 g
  • Estimated print time: Approximately 30 hours

Actual consumption and print times will vary depending on printer, filament, and selected settings.

Packing Instructions

Please refer to the included layer-by-layer photographs for the correct packing sequence.

The player boards, Ante Up material, and other flat components occupy the lower sections of the box.

The removable trays and token holders fit together above them, with the main playing board supported by the surrounding organizer structure.

Rulebooks and reference materials are placed on top.

Box lid lift: Approximately 5.5 mm when packed as shown.

The optional spacer is provided for additional support if needed.

Final Thoughts

This was my first completely original board-game organizer, designed from scratch in Tinkercad.

I wanted a storage solution that made Western Legends easier to set up, easier to put away, and more enjoyable to get to the table.

Throughout the design process, I tried to prioritize practical functionality, component protection, and thoughtful use of filament.

I'm extremely happy with how the finished organizer turned out, and I hope it makes getting Western Legends to the table a little easier for others as well.

Happy printing!
