A Place in the Sun — Board Game Insert & Organizer
Print Profile 68h 13m 1,131 g PLA
Plate Details (3)
A sleeve-friendly insert for A Place in the Sun, with separate card and token trays, fitted dial storage, no lid lift, and support for vertical storage.
A home for every planet—and a clear place for everything else.
I designed this insert for my copy of A Place in the Sun to keep the cards, planetary dials, and point tokens organized in the game box. Separate card trays keep the decks together, the circular recesses give the dials their own spaces, and two token trays separate the 1- and 5-point denominations.
The photos show the printed insert and the packing order, so you can see where each layer goes.
- Separate card trays with finger cutouts for access to the decks.
- Six circular storage positions for the dial components shown in the photos.
- Two removable token trays: a wider tray for the larger 5-point tokens and a narrower tray for the smaller 1-point tokens.
- Space above the card trays for the Solar boards, followed by the rulebook.
- Supports sleeved cards, tested with standard Sleeve Kings sleeves.
- The box lid closes fully with no lid lift.
- Supports vertical storage when packed as shown.
With the box oriented as shown in the photos and the token-tray spaces at the far end:
- Place the dial tray in the box as shown in the overview photo.
- Load the planetary dials into the circular recesses, matching the photographed arrangement.
- Put the loaded token trays in the two spaces at the far end of the box. In this view, the wider 5-point tray is on the left and the narrower 1-point tray is on the right.
- Add the six card trays in two columns of three, matching the packing photo.
- Place the Solar boards over the card trays: **two boards on the left and three on the right**. The detail photo shows the stack split and orientation.
- Place the rulebook on top, then add the box lid.
Print at 0.2 mm layer height . Supports are not normally needed. If your printer struggles with the bridging on the card holders, try build-plate-only supports for those parts.
The photographed insert was printed in PLA . Other materials should also work, although PLA is the material tested for this print.
The dial tray shown in the photos was printed in multiple colors using an AMS, but this is purely optional.
Fit tested: standard Sleeve Kings sleeves, full lid closure with no lid lift, and vertical storage with the box packed as shown.
The design is intended for use with different printers; check that each part fits your build plate. The designer's 3MF print project will provide the settings used for the photographed print.
