Designer's Description

You need a printer with a build plate at least as big as the Bambu Lab P2S (256 x 256 mm). The floor and lid are too large for one print, so each is printed in two halves and joined with bow-tie joints . The walls print whole on the same bed. Check the plate pictures before you start.

About

My original Quacks of Quedlinburg MegaBox broke, so I designed a replacement: a wooden-crate-style box with a fully custom insert. It holds the base game plus all expansions for 5 players. The box slides together with no hinges, and the insert keeps everything sorted by player and chip color.

Final box size: 258 x 300 x 105 mm. The floor panel is 252 x 294 mm, plus 3 mm of corner pillar on each side.

Part 1: The Box
  • 4 large corner pillars form the frame. Each wall slides into a groove in the pillars.
  • Pillars sized for the bed: each pillar is 50 mm per side and the walls overlap only 15 mm into them. The pillars cover part of each wall’s span, which keeps even the long walls small enough to print on a P2S-sized bed.
  • Floor panel slides into a groove in the pillars and locks everything in place. A dab of glue is optional but recommended.
  • Sliding lid slots into a groove at the top. There’s no lift-off lid to lose, and it has a small ridge to grip when sliding it open.
  • Custom multicolor lid art: a potion shelf, a bubbling cauldron, and a title plate reading “Quacks plus all Expansions.”
  • Slats are built into the walls and lid so it looks like a wooden crate.
  • Rulebook: the instruction manual sits on top of the insert, with 1 to 2 mm of clearance under the lid.
  • Bow ties: only the floor and lid need them.
Part 2: The Insert
  • Bottom layer: one piece holds all 5 player boards, including expansion parts. The community board nests on top in a shaped recess with a finger scoop.
  • Potion and bag section: potions slide under a lip at the bottle neck so they can’t fall out. The cavities are bottle-shaped to match the theme.
  • Starting chip trays: each player’s starting chips sit under the potions, ready to drop into their bag. The tray also holds the 50 score tokens.
  • Bag cubby: the five player bags tuck into their own space.
  • Chip containers: color-coded to match the chip colors and split by chip number, with 2 or 3 compartments each. The black container also holds the rubies. The chip card is the lid, and you can stand it upright as a reference during play.
  • Card holders: stepped slots keep card stacks compact. There’s also room for the dice cube, droplet and gnome tokens, and an extra chip container in the bottom.
Print Settings
  • Walls and lid: Sunlu wood PLA
  • Insert: PLA
  • Corner pillars: PLA or PETG (PETG gives a slightly firmer, tougher fit)
  • Colors used: white, black, red, green, blue, yellow, purple, teal, orange, plus Sunlu wood

Plates (14 total):
01 Bottom Game Plate Insert, 02 Potions Insert + Game Board Left Side, 03 Cards and Plates, 04 Red and Green Chips, 05 Blue and Yellow Chips, 06 Purple and Teal Chips, 07 Black and Orange Chips, 08 Box Edges (pillars), 09 Box Long Walls, 10 Box Short Walls, 11 Floor Left with Joint, 12 Floor Right, 13 Lid Right, 14 Lid Left

Lid Color Options (if you have fewer colors)
  • Lid Right (cauldron): with only 4 colors, print the cauldron black instead of grey.
  • Lid Left (potions and mushrooms): with only 4 colors, either print all the potions and mushrooms in one color, or use a combo of white, black, and your one color choice. You can also use a white lid base with just two colors.
Assembly
  • Join the floor halves with the bow-tie joint, and do the same for the lid halves.
  • Slide the floor into the grooves of the first pillars, then add the walls one at a time.
  • Close the frame and lock the floor in place (glue optional).
  • Drop in the insert, load the containers, put the manual on top, and slide the lid on.
Notes
  • Unofficial fan-made storage for personal use. No game components or artwork are included. The Quacks of Quedlinburg is by Wolfgang Warsch, published by Schmidt Spiele / North Star Games.
  • Sleeved cards: [doesn’t fit]
