Economy Box To Board Hex Tray - With Locking Clips
Print Profile (2) Hex Tray and Dividers 3h 4m 118 g PLA
This hex tray is the same exact dimensions as my magnetic hex trays, the only difference is that they are not magnetic and they don't have the outer ribs, everything else is the same. I made this because I wanted something more economical, they don't require magnets and they print MUCH faster, it uses about the same amount of filament. IF you like the look of the ribs on the magnetic trays they will work with these clips! Just don't put magnets in the trays.
There is only one single bay tray as I use the removeable dividers I made for the magnetic trays, the original design has them fixed but having them removeable makes so much more sense for versatility.
I also added a locking system because that's the best part of magnets is that it keeps your trays together, and I wanted that to still be possible. Credit to @MarvinMar for this idea on Makerworld as he showed me his design back in December for using a tab like this to not use magnets on the magnetic hex trays.
I made 2 types of retainer clips that slip into the groove in the bottom of the tray. One is for joining multiple hex trays together in succession and the other one is for when you come to an end or want 2 trays together it hides under the tray so it looks seamless. These clips also work to join these trays with my other magnetic trays. The bottom of the clip is super thin so it doesn't raise the trays off the table - be sure to print the clips on a SMOOTH plate. It is a separate print profile.
Here is a quick video showing it in action.
This works with almost all of the accessories and components for my magnetic trays - here are the links to those on Makerworld:
Magnetic Hex Trays
Dice Towers
Parametric Hex Toppers - NOW have a smooth exterior option to match these trays.
Parametric Travel Clips
Dice Web Hex
UPDATE 07/09/26 Added New Parametric Lids and Pour Spout
Customixable Hex Top
Here is a video that goes over the hex tray system, these trays are the same and work with it perfectly except you use the clips instead of magnets. IF you like the rib look just print the magnetic trays and don't put magnets in them they will work with these clips.
**some accessories I need to modify to work with the clips and will upload them here when I do.
For all trays pictured, I used Polymaker Panachroma Matte Filament.
