This is an organizer for the historical board game John Company 2nd Edition (2022) , about the corrupt and disfunctional British East India Company. Players manage the company collectively, but indulge in corruption, greed and self-interest to enrich their families in Britan. It's a very compelling semi-coop game from Cole Wehrle, and a deep historical reenactement in board game form, originally publihesd by Wehrlegig Games and now Buried Giant Studios . Please note that this insert will not fit the original 1st edition of the game.
The publisher strives to make the game components very compact and designing an insert that was both functional and thematic was very challenging but I believe I did my best here, providing player trays that double as dice trays, realistic treasury chests, elegant trays for the India pieces and the various card holders. The law cards tray can double as draw deck and discard pile when in-game.
This is a straightforward insert to print. The only pieces requiring supports are the treasury chests lids. I am using snug supports which are easy to remove (you may need a blade or knife to facilitate removal from the lid edges).
- Some plates have some accent coloring with minimal color changes but it can be disabled if you don't want the feature.
- If you want to use less filament variations, you could stick to a single shade of brown and reduce the number of colors used.
- I am providing an alternative print profile for color-coding the player trays: it's optional and you could even use some velvet to decorate those instead (see below).
If you want to keep the original insert the game ships with, you could print only the player trays and their lids, that double as dice trays! The original insert didn't really come with a storage solution for the player pieces other than plastic baggies. You can use the player trays from this model and keep everything else as is!
No gluing or assembly is required. For the player trays, the lids can become dice trays. I bought some velvet / felt paper, cut to size and glued to the bottom inside of each lid trying to match the player colors. This is a very nice touch and easy to DIY. If you don't want to do that, that's fine too. As an alternative, you can use the supplied profile in addition to the main one to print each tray color-coded.
Note that the player trays are very tight fit but will allow you to hold all the family member tokens, as shown in my photos.
I will post a packing video shortly, in the meantime you can use these photos as a boxing reference:
