Tag Team Insert

I really love this game. After getting it it became the most played game I have for me and my son. So, naturally, I wanted to find a good way to store some elements of the game to make setup a bit faster and prepare for the upcoming expansions. There definitely are some nice inserts floating around but nothing that quite did the things I was hoping for. So, using my Unmatched character boxes as inspiration, I set out to create per-character boxes that would store all the components needed for each character.

The goal from the beginning was to make it possible to store the base game and the two upcoming expansions in a single box or at least mostly stored together. The final structure ends up working perfectly though if you only plan to have the base box (layout a) or plan to mix in expansions (layout b). If you do eventually get the expansions, this then expands as a means to store 24 characters in a single box (albeit with a good bit of lid lift).

Also, yes, I have already pre-ordered both of the upcoming expansions and will certainly be making cases for those characters as well. I'm not sure what to do with the 7th bonus character from the SNK box, but I'll definitely put something together once that releases. I hope you enjoy this insert. It was a ton of fun to make and I absolutely love using it!

- Print the character box and lid for each of the 12 characters. I added a filament change right near the top so that the lid and the top of the box matched color. The lids should slide in nice and smooth. If you find them to be too loose, you can add 0.5 mm to the width but more than that will likely make them very hard to slide in and out. Obviously different printers have different tolerances, so YMMV.
- Print a single copy of the main tray and the power token bin.
- Print an additional 6 health trackers so each fighter box has the health tokens needed. I used a filament change on the last 3 layers to match the color but a marker would also work.
- You can optionally print and store 4 power cube trackers in the top of the tray. I made these to make it easier to see how much power each character has and to make it easy to track the rare games where a character goes over 10 power.
- You can also optionally print the middle spacer. This is mostly good to have if you never plan to add expansions since without it the character boxes will slide around inside. If you do plan to add expansions, you can still print it, but it would no longer have space once more characters are in the box.
- I used acrylic paint markers to trace the names on the sides of the character boxes to give them extra color. This is totally optional but does add a nice touch if you have some markers lying around.
- I recommend using sleeves for the cards. Without them, some of the tokens will fall out of their slots behind the cards. They won't come out of the boxes, but that still may matter to some people.

There are two layouts this intends to fit (see the tagged images).
- Layout A: Base game only. Character boxes sit flat, in 4 stacks of 3. The spacer goes in the middle to keep them from sliding and the main tray sits on top.
- Layout B: Base game plus 12 more characters. For this layout, the character trays sit on their sides in 2 rows. This allows up to 24 characters to be included. The top tray sits on the top and then the lid goes on. There will be significant lid lift but this is a great way to keep a lot of characters together and make selection smooth.
