Reversi board, minimized color changes in printing.
Game description:
In Reversi, two players aim to have the majority of discs on the board in their color at the end of the game. Players take turns placing a disc of their color on the board to outflank ("trap") one or more of their opponent's discs in a straight line (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally). The trapped discs are then flipped to the player's color. The game ends when no player can make a legal move, and the player with more discs of their color wins.
Setup
Board: The game is played on an 8x8 board, with colors set to black with the exception of the 4 squares in the center of the board, which are flipped to red and blue forming a cross shape.
Gameplay
First Move: Red always moves first.
Placing a Disc: On your turn, place a disc of your color on an empty square.
Outflanking: Your disc placement must outflank at least one opponent's disc. Outflanking means that the opponent's disc(s) must be between the disc you just placed and another disc of your color.
Flipping Discs: Any opponent discs trapped by your move are flipped over to your color.
Multiple Flips: If a single move traps discs in multiple directions (horizontal, vertical, and/or diagonal), all trapped discs are flipped.
No Legal Move: If you cannot make a legal move on your turn (i.e., you cannot outflank any opponent's discs), your turn is skipped, and play passes to the other player.
Ending the Game
The game ends when the entire board is full or when neither player can make a legal move.
Count the number of discs of each color facing up on the board.
The player with the most discs of their color is the winner.
