Scythe Legendary Box Insert / Organizer
This is an insert / organizer for the Scythe Legendary Box. It supports all expansions and known promos, including the Scythe components that are contained in Duel of Meloch (see the full list of supported components below), plus the realistic resources and the upgraded components from MeepleSource. All cards are in premium sleeves (Gamegenic Prime shown).
I had three primary goals with this insert:
- To incorporate the new Scythe components that come with Duel of Meloch;
- To avoid needing to dig through many layers of trays to get to the components, which is sometimes an issue with big boxes; and
- To create a system where individual modules and factions could be easily accessed.
Here is a video overview of the insert and how I attempted to achieve these goals, followed by text descriptions of the supported components and features of the insert.
- Scythe
- Invaders from Afar
- Wind Gambit
- Rise of Fenris
- Duel of Meloch Scythe components, including
- Constantinople faction components, player board, mechs, and character mini
- Constantinople airship (purchased separately from Duel of Meloch)
- Adventurous player board
- Encounter cards
- Factory cards
- Combat cards
- All Promo Encounter, Factory, and Objective Cards
- Original game board
- Board extender (providing larger hexes on the map)
- Modular board
- Metal coins
- Realistic resources
- Complete rulebook (or individual rulebooks)
- Upgraded components from MeepleSource
- Power dials for each faction
It is not designed to hold the metal mechs, and I received a report that at least some of the metal mechs do not fit.
- Custom trays for each of the ten factions, including Constantinople from Duel of Meloch
- When placing the trays in the box, you can arrange them alphabetically or place all the trays with a single dot on the side in one row and all the trays with two dots in another row. This will ensure that each faction row is the correct length to fit in the box properly. See the photos for details on what the dots look like on the sides of the faction trays.
- There are rails on the sides or rears of the faction trays to hold the mechs in place, and there is a pedestal in the middle where you place the character mini. There should be about 2 mm of clearance above the mini once the top tray is in place.
- The Fenris faction is an exception, where the mini needs to go in the corner of the tray. You will also need to alternate and layer the minis, as shown in the photos and video.
- The power dials are generally oriented on their sides, as shown in the photo for the Nordic faction tray. However, the dial for the Fenris faction was produced at a 90 degree angle as compared to the others, so it fits differently in its tray (as shown in the photo).
- Cabinet with labeled drawers/trays that allow direct access to most modules
- The slots on the cabinet are also labeled to make it easy to know where each drawer resides
- Two resource trays that support the realistic resources (or print the alternative single resource tray, as shown in the final photo)
- Two money trays that support the metal coins (or print the alternative single money tray, as shown in the final photo)
- Wind Gambit tray that holds the airships, airship stands, and airship tiles
- Card trays that support premium sleeves and go directly on the board, including trays for the objective, encounter, factory, and combat cards
- Trays for both the original combat cards and the new combat cards from Duel of Meloch (with a discard slot to the side of the tray)
To achieve the insert as shown, print each tray the number of times specified in the file name (e.g., if the file name has x2 in it, print two) and one of everything else. Everything prints without supports.
For the resource and money trays, I posted two alternatives, a single larger tray for each or two smaller trays so you can put them at each end of the table.
For the cabinet, I posted a single-piece version for those with larger print beds and a split version for those with smaller print beds. In the split version, there are alignment tabs to help during gluing. I use a gel super glue and it works well. Regular super glue can be quite runny and may not adhere the components as well.
My slicer says that this insert takes about 2.4 kg of filament.
I have included the original OpenSCAD files in case anyone wants to improve on the design for non-commercial purposes. However, if you remix a portion, please post only the remixed portion and point back to my listing here for everything else.
